Pregnancy And HemorrhoidsI've never had hemorrhoids before, and now I do. Why? Hemorrhoids are caused by increased blood flow in the pelvis and the increased weight and size of the uterus, which blocks blood flow.
What exactly are hemorrhoids? They are dilated blood vessels around the anus or inside the anus. They can itch, bleed and hurt. Headaches I have headaches but don't want to take medication if I don't have to during pregnancy. What can I do about them? You may experience more tension headaches during pregnancy because of sleep disturbances, nausea and vomiting, and stress (emotional and physical). You may get fewer tension headaches during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters as your body (and mind] adjust to your pregnancy. It's a good idea to try to deal with your problem without medication. There are several things you can try that are medicine free.
If my headaches won't go away using these techniques, is there any medicine I can take? Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is recommended for headaches. You can take the regular or extra-strength version. If this doesn't help, call your doctor.
I suffer from migraine headaches. What can I do about them during pregnancy? Try the techniques described above. If they don't help, discuss the problem with your doctor. Do not take any medications for a migraine headache without discussing it with your physician first.
