Diarrhea During Pregnancy |
Diarrhea During Pregnancy.
I've been having some diarrhea lately. Should I be concerned? Diarrhea during pregnancy can cause you concern. If the diarrhea doesn't go away in 24 hours, or if it keeps returning, contact your doctor. He or she may prescribe medication for the problem. Do not take any medication for diarrhea without discussing it with your doctor first. Is there anything I can do for myself if I have diarrhea? One of the best things you can do is increase your fluid intake. Drink a lot of water, juice and other clear fluids, such as broth. (Avoid apple juice because it can act as a laxative.) You may feel better eating a bland diet, without solid foods, until your diarrhea stops.
Is it dangerous for my baby if I don't eat solids? No, it isn't harmful for a few days if you keep up your fluid intake. Solid foods may actually cause you more gastrointestinal distress. Avoid milk products while you have diarrhea; they can make it worse.
